For the first such deal Sony teamed up with Tordivel AS, a leading supplier of firewire/IEEE1394 imaging based vision solutions, to deliver the Sony Scorpion Vision Starter Kit.
The starter kit provides a framework that is well suited for individual real-world applications.
It contains everything production engineers require to develop and maintain their own vision solutions with ease, and removes the need to rely on a contracted vision system integrator.
Users do not need to have a deep knowledge of control software nor be any type of programmer or software specialist.
It is well suited to a wide range end users and manufacturers including those in the automotive and inspection industries.
The Sony Scorpion Vision Starter Kit includes a Scorpion Enterprise software license, a high quality Sony XCD-V50 IEEE1394.b camera and a two day training course focussing on using the Scorpion Vision Software.
The standard and configurable user interface of the software paired with innovative and easy-to-use imaging tools quickly enables engineers to plan, implement and test complete Scorpion applications so that they are ready to communicate with control systems.
The Sony XCD-V50 is one of the first digital machine vision cameras based on the new IEEE1394.b standard which offers twice the bandwidth of existing IEEE1394.a systems, allowing systems to handle more cameras and/or run at higher resolutions.
Pascal Wojciechowski, Divisional Director, at Sony ISS said, "Customer satisfaction is our prime focus.
By seeking out Sony partners to provide integrated end user solutions we are taking the leg work out of the process, thus speeding development and easing deployment We will only team up with partners that provide the highest calibre solutions to match our cameras performance and capabilities." The Sony approved Scorpion Vision Starter Kit is available now from Tordivel AS: www.tordivel.com.
