Wire EDM world record removal rate
claimed at EMO
Thanks to a new high-speed generator combined with high-precision linear drives, EDM machines from Sodick are able to achieve a removal performance of up to 340mm2/min with coated wire.
Speed is relative - and that's especially true in EDM - but it's the facts that matter, for example, thanks to the new LQ33W high-speed generator combined with high-precision linear drives, EDM machines from Sodick are able to achieve a solid 260mm2/min removal performance with a normal brass wire measuring only 0.25mm in diameter - or up to 340mm2/min with coated wire For the user this means being able to achieve the highest productivity without added costs and without thick wires

Automatic EDM wire feed system cuts lead times
The high-speed, sensor-controlled, automatic wire feed system on its latest wire EDM is really reducing lead times for multi-aperture work at a spring maker.
The LQ33W high-speed generator is compatible with Sodick's AQ325L and AQ535L.
Secret of success in the field of high productive EDM machining is Sodick's original technology.
This uses practical diameter wire to achieve the world's fastest machining speed for machines with high linear motor responsiveness, due to higher efficiency through sharply higher electrical current peaks and optimum pulse control, and newly developed wire break prevention for continuous stability of machining conditions.
Another feature is the active power control (thinking circuit), which is an adaptive energy control technology that systematically optimizes the processes corresponding to machining patterns for different and varying work piece heights, nozzle positioning and corner definition.
By automatically selecting machining know-how required for machining press dies, moulds and components this active control processes higher speeds and accuracies, achieving the ultimate productivity and accuracy repeatability.
The high-speed non-electrolytic power supply "Super-BS" has been mounted as a standard to realise the world's fastest first cut of 260mm2/min machining speed by using normal standard brass wire of 0.25mm wire and still allowing fine surface finishes down to 0.2 micron Ra in the shortest possible time.
Big improvements in production efficiency also open the way to reduced running costs.
Furthermore, LQ33W together with Q3vic solution is a 3D solid model fusion-type power supply that is the standard for 3D CAD design engines, to establish a coherent manufacturing flow from design to final production, provide an extremely progressive operating environment and achieve remarkable machining performance that serves to accelerate the excellence of linear motor drive machines.
