EDM machine supplier has helped put a high precision toolmaking and moulding firm back into action again after a serious fire at its premises last year.

Sodi-tech EDM has helped put high precision toolmaking and moulding firm Hi-Spec back into action again after a serious fire at its premises last year Hi-Spec has invested in five new Sodick EDM machines to replace those lost in the blaze and with these new machines the company has been able to return to its previous record levels of growth within twelve months

The toolroom, which was well equipped before, is now truly state of the art, with an array of brand new Sodick machines - including three AQ325L CNC wire erosion machines which use the unique linear drive technology to provide even higher precision particularly on larger work pieces.

In addition, Hi-Spec has installed an AM3L CNC linear motor die sinking spark erosion machine - which, due to its advanced technology, can cut machining time by half compared to working with a re-circulating ball screw - and a K1CEDM hole drilling machine, all supplied by Sodi-Tech EDM of Coventry.

Peter Capp, Sodi-Tech MD, comments, "Hi-Spec has been a customer for many years and it is great to see the company bounce back after what had certainly been a difficult time.

Every cloud really does have a silver lining, and in this case I am sure the investment in new technology will help the company achieve even greater efficiency.

Hi-Spec provides high quality precision toolmaking to a wide variety of sectors including automotive, electrical and agricultural.

Tooling produced ranges in size from 350kN to 4000kN and includes plastics moulding, Zinc diecasting and Aluminium diecasting.

True to its expansive spirit, the company does not confine its business to the Midlands but has customers across the whole of the UK.

The moulding operation is now 9 machines strong after a further capital investment of GBP 200,000.

More than 10 million mouldings were produced during the last twelve months and the forecast for the next twelve exceeds 30 million mouldings.
