High speed machining centres work to microns

A Sodi-Tech edm product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Aug 12, 2004

EDM builder has launched a new generation of high-speed machining centres with linear motors on all axes and that provide precision in the micron range.

Sodick has launched a new generation of high-speed machining centres with linear motors on all axes.

The new MC430L and MC630L machines provide precision in the micron range, up to 1G acceleration and extremely fast travel speeds.

For situations requiring maximum precision and surface quality - applications ranging from hard-cutting of complex work-pieces to high-speed milling of filigree electrode geometries - these machines deliver the perfect solution.

As well as linear drives on all axes, the machines offer direct measuring systems, acceleration up to 1G, and spindle speeds of up to 40,000 rev/min.

To ensure this high level of dynamics and precision is applied optimally to the work-piece, the machine beds are of cast construction to provide the necessary rigidity and stability.

The MC430L offers a work bench size of 600 x 400mm with a maximum loading weight of 60kg, while the MC630L can tackle even larger work with a work bench size of 750 x 400mm and a maximum loading weight of 100kg.

The machines also feature state-of-the-art control technology based on Windows and the Sodick Motion Control closed regulating system.

Tool changing is fast and efficient utilising HSK E tool holders, which provide proven stability under high-speed conditions, and tools are replaced from a magazine with either 16 or 45 slots.
