Wire EDM has three-sided vertical drop tank

A Sodi-Tech edm product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Mar 6, 2006

Wire EDM includes as standard a three-sided vertical drop tank - a revolutionary design whereby the work tank retracts fully into the body of the unit, allowing easy machining of larger work pieces.

MACH2006 is to be the UK debut of the AQ327L, recently announced winner of the prestigious 'Good Design Award' for product design in the machine tool industry field.

This accolade, awarded by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organisation (JIDPO), recognises excellence in the field of innovation and technology and is judged on a broad spectrum of criteria including making skilful use of new technology and meeting the needs of consumers.

Premium range designs are based on the specific core technology that is the cornerstone of all Sodick machines; linear motors, ceramic components, sturdy Meehanite castings and Sodick Motion Control - factors which combine to ensure a long machine life, low maintenance and excellent performance.

The AQ327L, in common with other models in the Premium range, offers the very best in high technology, precision accuracy and long term durability.

The AQ327L includes as standard a three-sided vertical drop tank - a revolutionary design whereby the work tank retracts fully into the body of the unit, allowing easy machining of even larger work pieces.

This new technology allows the best possible access to the machine and therefore immediate compatibility for automated production.

In addition, again as standard, the high speed LQ33W generator, works in conjunction with K-SMC, the very latest Sodick Motion Control technology, to control axis motion and continually monitor and correct the spark gap 500 times per second.

Premium machines are capable of achieving a burn rate of up to 360mm2/min.

Both the AQ327L and AQ537L Premium packages also incorporate Sodick's Super Pika fine finishing circuit, to produce surface finish down to 0.1 micron Ra, which for many applications eliminates the need for subsequent polishing.

The result is a versatile, high performance range of machines suitable for a wide variety of applications * Sodi-Tech EDM at MACH 2006, NEC Birmingham, UK, May 15-19, Hall 5, Stand 5759.
