As well as showing its latest developments at MACH 2008, an EDM machine builder will show high speed milling machine designed for mould and die work.

As well as will be presenting its latest and fastest EDM machines at the UK's MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition, Sodi-Tech EDM will present the Sodick HS430L high speed milling machine designed for mould and die work EDM developments will include the Premium linear wire machine and the AQ327 and an AQ35L sink machine

Sodick has also claimed a 'World first' a very low graphite electrode wear rate of less than 0.06% - defined as 'Zero wear'.

The 'Zero wear' graphite electrode means that a single electrode can handle the entire machining process from roughing to finishing, said SodiTech EDM to manufacturingtalk.

The company said it greatly reduces the cost of making multiple electrodes, reducing set-up time and avoiding many of the errors that can accompany the handling of multiple electrodes.

* Innovative power supply - Sodick's innovative SGF power supply technology enables the graphite electrodes to machine workpieces, which would previously have had to be machined with copper electrodes.

In comparison with copper, graphite electrodes are inexpensive, offer outstanding cutting performance, are lightweight, can be fixed with glue, are corrosion proof and have a small coefficient of thermal expansion.

In addition, further improvements have been made to Sodick's 'LN Assist' programming system, which includes functions to perform high speed and high precision machining easily.

The latest version of the software is design to work with 'Zero wear' power supply, enabling burrless machining in the PIKA surface finishing process.

* Sodi-Tech EDM at MACH 2008, NEC, Birmingham, UK, April 21-25, Hall 5, Stand 5281.
