The Machine Building show saw the range of high quality miniature (3mm-16mm diameter) and standard size (16mm-125mm diameter) ballscrews from Steinmeyer presented.

Steinmeyer, manufacturer of ballscrew and nut assemblies, presented its range of high quality miniature (3mm-16mm diameter) and standard size (16mm-125mm diameter) ballscrews at Machine Building in Birmingham The company has been established since 1920 and is well known for its high quality ballscrew and nut assemblies as well as its precision measurement instruments

At Machine Building, Steinmeyer introduced its latest ballscrew design - the ETA+ to the British market.

ETA+ comes very close to being the ideal linkage between motor and slide by providing an extremely stiff but highly efficient connection with no reversing error.

Rigidity has been increased by 50 per cent, compared to standard ballscrews, and friction reduced by 67 per cent.

Working closely with its customers, Steinmeyer specialises in providing tailored ballscrew solutions for a wide range of applications.

Examples of these solutions were on show at Machine Building.

Steinmeyer ballscrews use a very complex profile of thread grooves of the screw and inside the nut.

It is designed to meet the requirements of increased stiffness, smooth motion and low friction.

These profiles, developed from the 'gothic arch' profile, allow for optimum control of contact angle, track conformity and backlash of single nuts.

Also on display were examples of the Steinmeyer FMD (Feinmess) linear stages, capable of operating in nano movement ranges.

Feinmess recently launched a new Nanometre Stage with long travels.

The systems can be equipped with different encoders having a resolution of up to 5nm.

Therewith, a repeatability of +/-10 nm can be achieved.
