A leading edge safety gauge for aerosols developed for Unilever looks set to transform the fortunes of Castleford -based Specialist Tooling Technologies .
Their website has enabled them to attract attention from all over the world and is also helping them aggressively market the cost-saving device to aerosol manufacturers in the UK and overseas.
Director Peter Lee said: "Our customer Unilever told us how many of their hand-held aerosol testing gauges were getting lost or were producing inaccurate results so we set about devising a gauge to measure the crimp of an aerosol can.
They were delighted with the finished product, which has allowed them to reduce downtime costs and have lower levels of frozen stock.
We have now developed a piece of software which will enable our customers to record all the data.
The business specialises in designing custom-built tools, gauges and special purpose machines for the aerospace, automotive, packaging and medical industries.
The aerosol gauge is typical of the type of solution provided by Specialist Tooling Technologies to their customers who are seeking to reduce their manufacturing costs and improve their product quality.
