On-line tool enables de-bugging of
motion control
A Profibus analyzer, used for investigating bus traffic during the commissioning, debugging and maintenance of Profibus networks, has been upgraded with additional functionality.
Softing's unique Profibus Analyzer, for investigating bus traffic during the commissioning, debugging and maintenance of Profibus networks, has been enhanced to accommodate the latest Profibus DP-V2 protocol Profibus DP-V2 brings additional functionality to Profibus networks by incorporating features such as isochronous bus cycles, lateral communication between slaves and time synchronization, used mainly in Motion Control applications

Module links Fieldbus to high speed Internet
Softing has launched a module for linking FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 (IEC 61158-2) low speed field networks to the FF High Speed Ethernet (HSE) network specification.
The Analyzer is a PC-based tool used in conjunction with a Profibus master card to display and process bus communication parameters and states graphically, enabling quick understanding and isolation of network problems without requiring detailed protocol knowledge.
It allows easy interpretation of all bus states and allows timing issues to be resolved quickly.
A basic analysis of network traffic is obtained by simply pressing a button.
Beyond that the Analyzer has numerous capabilities, including an organized overview of deviations from set point cycle times, with filter and trigger functions to help isolate specific Profibus services.
The Analyzer guarantees targeted trouble-shooting and fast and efficient detection of communication problems - at all data rates up to 12 Mbs.
This new version of the Analyzer is characterized by plaintext decoding of DP-V2 frames.
It can be used with Windows 98, NT, 2000 and XP.
