Event to aid on UK manufacturing advancement
Manufacturers will be gathering in Bristol to explore ways to harness the power of their workforce, revolutionise operations and 'anchor' profits in the UK.
Manufacturers will be gathering on the historic steamship 'ss Great Britain' in Bristol next month to explore ways to harness the power of their workforce, revolutionise operations and anchor profits in the UK.
The event, on Tuesday, 28 November, will be hosted by the South West Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) and sponsored by Barclays Bank.
It will see senior decision-makers from South West manufacturing operations examine worker engagement and how to maximize the potential of teams at all levels to impact on the bottom line.
"The 'ss Great Britain', the crown of Brunel's work, is a fitting venue for the event and dinner," said South West MAS specialist Simon Howes.
"Brunel is an example of someone who faced significant challenges and yet through innovation and creativity revolutionised the industry in which he worked." She said: "The MAS is working to support the transformation of manufacturing and everyday we witness real examples of companies who are revolutionising their businesses through innovation and an evolution of their manufacturing processes and production techniques.
These companies demonstrate that we are moving in the right direction to secure the role of manufacturing in our future economy." Kicking off at 17.00h, talks will be given by South West MAS specialists, event sponsors Barclays Bank and management and leadership coach, Simon Ricketts, on the importance of planning for the future, getting the most from your staff and staying afloat in a sea of competition.
Simon Howes explained: "Before Brunel all transatlantic ships were made of wood and driven by paddle wheels, but, with the advent of the 'ss Great Britain', he revolutionized the world of sea travel and engineering".
"The creation of the first iron-hulled, steam-powered ocean-going ship was a preview of how engineering and manufacturing would transform over the coming years." Howes said: "Our event is based on exploring the transformation occurring within manufacturing and the need for businesses to make the most of their people in order to innovate and prosper in the future." Attendees will get an opportunity to dine in 'first class' surroundings, take a guided tour of the ship, as well as gain invaluable advice on how to explore the untapped potential of their workforce.
