When the going is hot, time to get a sea breeze

A Scott Products product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jun 22, 2004

Using an evaporative process to cool factory or office air, two portable, compact air-conditioning units require no installation, no vent hose and provide a pleasant 'sea breeze' effect.

The Convair Mastercool and the newly launched Convair Magicool portable air-conditioning units from Scott Products.

are a success story.

The 2004 summer season is predicted to beat 2003 temperature heights, and as a result Scott Products' first shipments of Convair Mastercools and Magicools sold out before the end of May! Retailers and specifiers around the UK made sure they pre-ordered the units long before they even became available from Scott Products.

A further tranche of Mastercool deliveries will be available for mid July.

Both units are perfect for use in conservatories, shops, offices, kitchens, bedrooms and living rooms, thereby providing an ideal retail opportunity for garden centres, specifiers and electrical, DIY and hardware stores.

These two portable air-conditioning units require no installation, no vent hose and unlike traditional air-conditioners, they operate best when windows and doors are left open.

They are also compact in size meaning they occupy little space in shops and customers' homes.

The Convair Mastercool provides a natural cooling effect similar to a sea breeze.

This is because the unit cools the air by an evaporative process, which reduces the temperature of the room whilst simultaneously delivering a constant flow of filtered fresh air.

It features a three-speed fan, thereby delivering airflow of 1.044m3 per hour while using less than 100W of power.

Although powerful, the Mastercool is quiet in operation making it ideal for use in the bedroom on hot summer evenings.

The Convair Magicool is equipped with a 13 litre water tank that allows overnight operation, while a water level indicator, visible through a viewing window, helps users to ensure that the unit will not run out of water.

Customers will also benefit from the Convair Magicool's different cooling options: a three-speed fan, which delivers airflow of 685m3 per hour using only 56 watts of power; a fan-only option; and an upward directional airflow option.

Scott Products is the sole distributor of the Convair Mastercool and the Convair Magicool in the UK.

The units come with a 2-year guarantee on parts and labour.

The Convair Mastercool retails at around GBP 249 (incl VAT) with trade terms offering healthy margins.
