Steel plant sampling probe maker looks to USA
A French manufacturer of measuring and sampling probes for steel producing quality control, seeks to expand its business to the USA and seeks representation.
SOLED, a French manufacturer of measuring and sampling probes for steel producing quality control, seeks to expand its business to the United States.
Since 1970, the company has been a leader in the industry, capturing more than 30 percent of the Canadian market share for probes used in the steel and iron industry.
SOLED manufactures probes for sampling or measuring, as well as combined probes to save time by sampling and measuring in a single operation.
SOLED's Spemis sampling probes include immersion probes for steel baths, immersion probes for low-carbon and stainless steels, aspiration probes for low-temperature sampling in ingot molds and continuous casters, probes for sampling the metal stream beneath the casting ladle, and pig iron probes to obtain a cylindrical sample.
The measurement probes available are Spemitemp and Spemox.
The Spemitemp temperature-measurement probe is equipped with a device on its tip for connection to standard pyrometric lances and is available in three different types of thermocouples, type R, S, or B, for the corresponding temperature ranges.
The Spemox probe measures the oxygen activity in liquid steel in less than ten seconds, allowing for adjustments during the refinement process to achieve the desired steel specification.
SOLED also offers standard combined probes for significant time-saving by allowing sampling and temperature measurement in liquid steel in one operation.
The standard combined probes are available for all shapes of samples combined with thermocouples of type R, S, or B.
The sublance combined probes combine sampling and measuring in converters equipped with an automatic system called "sublance." These probes allow quality control at different stages of the process without requiring tilting of the vessel for sampling.
Being continuously improved, the probes meet all specifications from the chemical laboratories.
The recent improvement to the probes by adding deoxidizing agents such as aluminum, zirconium, and titanium, allows for the sampling of rimming steel.
All probes can be fitted with a sleeve made of anti-splash fibers for protection and are compatible with manual lances and automatic sampling systems to suit a producer's needs.
SOLED's subsidiaries in Germany and Canada are proven successes with 50 percent of the company's sales coming from abroad.
It has created close partnerships with its customers, including the global steel giant Arcelor, to whom it offers proven know-how and excellent technical assistance.
Thanks to an innovative and experienced research and development department, the company masters new technologies resulting in quality products at a competitive price.
SOLED looks to bring its success to the United States and seeks an agent well-connected with the purchasing departments of steel industry companies or a compatible manufacturer and supplier.
