Schott Launch High End CAM at EuroMold
Schott Systeme Introduces High End Machining Methods
Using the Euromold exhibition in Frankfurt as a launch venue, CAD/CAM developer Schott Systeme will be showing some of the new high end machining methods available in their low cost CAD/CAM system `Pictures by PC´ CAM Feature Recognition - Generally feature recognition involves finding typical 2.5D prismatic features on a clean solid model Schott Systeme however have taken a different approach and are focussing on recognising free form features on `non prismatic´surface models, with one example being the ability to find and isolate all fillet radii within a specific size range

Importantly for customers receiving differing model formats, the system caters for Nurbs, Bezier and ACIS surfaces.
Toolpath Optimization - The optimization tools made ready for the launch at EuroMold will be the start of many more to come.
Included so far is the ability to automatically reduce or increase the cutter speed depending on the amount of material being removed.
The user can also visually see the areas where the tool is accelerating and decelerating.
Improvements in the efficency of pocket and 3D roughing have a dramatic effect in reducing cutting time, and over the next few months users will also see the introduction of new HSC techniques and optimised rest material machining.
Reusing Machining Intelligence - Individual machining technologies could previously be stored for later use.
However now complete machining strategies containing multiple technologies can be stored.
All the user need do is to open the part to machine, load the machining strategy, and select the geometry to machine.
Affordable High End Machining - Since its launch over 15 years ago, Pictures by PC has seen a steady increase in standard CAD and CAM features.
The introduction of these high end machining methods is no different with new customers seeing these tools included within the standard price.
