Aluminium panels up to 10mm thick superformed
Capacity at Superform Aluminium now offers formed aluminium parts up to 10mm thick following the completion of a new GBP1m at its Worcester, UK, production facility.
With the completion of a new GBP1m investment by the Luxfer Group at their Worcester, UK, production facility, Superform Aluminium, the world's leading superforming company now offers an unrivalled capacity that includes the manufacture of panels up to 3m x 2 x 0.6m in aluminium up to 10mm thick.
Andrew Lowerson, Superfom's sales manager said, "following rapid growth over the last few years we have more than doubled our capacity with the latest investments in forming and trimming facilities".
"This, combined with our ongoing technical developments in CADCAM, welding and fabrication now lets us handle projects that even just a year or two ago would have been impossible or uneconomic", he said.
As well as this, we have a new 5 axis, twin table trimming facility which has removed our CNC bottleneck and more than doubled our capacity.
All this, coupled to the new Robot Wash facility let us tackle projects and volumes that even a year or two ago would have been impossible or uneconomic.
The new forming facility now allows parts of up to 10mm in thickness to be formed - something that is quite unique - and this has already opened up new applications for the superforming process, from defence applications to pressure vessels and bulk liquid transportation and storage.
"We are particularly excited about the possibilities offered by our new forming capability - not only can we handle an unprecedented part thickness of 10mm, but this also means that our "normal" thinner parts can be formed much more efficiently, so reducing our lead times and offering much potential for cost reductions", he said, "already, some customers have seen reductions of as much as 25% on certain parts".
Superform are now in pole position in the Superforming sector.
No other company can offer the capacity, technical expertise and service.
With a stream of major new projects now under development across a wide range of industries, Superform has demonstrated that with the continued support of its parent Group, Luxfer, combined with a highly trained and motivated workforce, UK manufacturing can still lead the way.
