Orders for sliding-headstock lathes received by Star GB during the traditionally quiet months of July and August totaled 11 units, despite protracted machine deliveries from Japan.

Orders for sliding-headstock lathes received by Star GB during the traditionally quiet months of July and August totaled 11 units, despite protracted machine deliveries from Japan.

Two orders for a total of five machines were from Scottish subcontractors, both existing Star users, while a major automotive manufacturer committed to two further Star SV-32s to complement four purchased earlier in the year.

Single machine sales were secured from a firm in the south of England, which bought a very high speed ECAS-20 model, and three other companies.

One of these is an automotive subcontractor, for which Star GB is providing a full turnkey package in consultation not only with the contract machinist, but unusually also with one of its automotive customers which is demanding guaranteed high quality of mill-turned parts.

Bob Hunt, Managing Director of Star GB, commented, "Sales activity during the summer months was encouraging and follows a good first half.

We are looking forward to a very positive fourth quarter as deliveries improve from our Kikugawa factory.".
