Five orders for sliding-head lathes were taken by Star GB at the UK's recent MACH 2006 machine tool exhibition, three from new customers in valve manufacture, medical equipment production and contract manufacturing.
A further three orders were taken during the remainder of May, largely as a result of negotiations at the show.
June is looking good too, with GBP 1 million of deliveries confirmed.
Commented managing director, Bob Hunt, "In addition to good order intake during MACH and its immediate aftermath, we received a lot of enquiries which will give us excellent sales opportunities over the summer and beyond." He said: "The launch of our new, on-going competition - in 'The Fast Lane' - was popular at the show and is picking up further momentum as we gain new business.
The winners, to be announced next year after the Grand Final at Donington Park, will receive many thousands of pounds in prizes.".
