StarragHeckert UK and Carl Zeiss, UK, have formed a business partnership whereby the two companies will work together to provide turnkey cell and integrated system engineering solutions.

StarragHeckert UK of Brackley and Carl Zeiss of Rugby have formed a business partnership whereby the two companies will work together to provide turnkey cell and integrated system engineering solutions involving multi-axis milling and turning, component cleaning and measurement.

In addition, the StarragHeckert UK operation will provide the metrology division of Carl Zeiss with sales support for its full range of co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM) including its new range of shopfloor hardened CMMs.

Says Paul Maynard, managing director of StarragHeckert UK: "The Carl Zeiss product leads the metrology industry and as a Western European product slots extremely well into our machine tool and component cleaning portfolio.

It especially complements our five-axis milling capability which is regarded as world-leading in the aerospace and power generation type industries.

However, it is the Carl Zeiss expertise in scanning technology and measurement software that will provide us with an important resource and business opportunity." Carl Zeiss is looking to StarragHeckert UK to provide a working partnership based on sales support enhanced by the recent launch of four new machines including the ground breaking designs of shopfloor hardened GageMax CMMs developed for hostile working environments.

According to Andrew Thompson, divisional manager of the Rugby metrology specialist: "The type of customers that work with StarragHeckert and the level of manufacturing technology they can apply closely matches our measuring capability which is important to bring a broader outlook to both our businesses.".
