Duplex bed absorbs heavy milling thrusts
Duplex bed design of apowerful, compact machining centre absorbs the thrust when drilling and milling using up to 22kW and allows the machine to accept workpieces up to 2 tonnes.
A major distinguishing feature of the latest RMT Kompakt.13 vertical machining centre, now available from StarragHeckert UK of Brackley, is the duplex bed design which fully supports the 1300mm by 750mm table on four heavy cast iron box-ways over its entire X and Y machining strokes of 1300mm by 900mm As a result, the high levels of thrust from the ISO 40, 22kW spindle, when drilling and milling, are fully absorbed into the machine structure and the table is able to accept loadings of up to two tonnes

Electronic lathe frees up CNC production machines
The installation of an 'electronic' lathe has saved up to a third in machining times over previous methods for copper welding arms and released CNC machines for higher volume work.
VMC has higher rigidity, faster acceleration
Higher levels of rigidity, fast acceleration and rapid traverse rates for spindle positioning and simultaneous five-axis operation feature a modular nachining centre for wet or dry machining.
Such is the construction that the heavy-duty cast column with its wide slideway bearing spread to support the spindle housing, enables high tensile materials such as stainless and tool steel to be machined at greater metal removal rates to high orders of tolerance and surface finish.
This makes the Kompakt.13 ideal for mould and die and production cycles where optimised performance is in demand.
Travels in X, Y and Z axes are 1300mm by 900mm by 700mm and rapid traverse rates are 30m/min in each axis achieved with an acceleration of 3.5m/sec2.
The 22kW high torque spindle has a speed range between 50 and 10,000 rev/min which is complemented with a 30 station disc-style tool magazine mounted on the column, which emphasises the compactness of the machine and requires minimum of floor space.
Accuracy and repeatability is high through linear scale positioning and there is a choice of control systems from the likes of Heidenhain, Siemens, Fagor or Fanuc which all feature easy to program, menu-based software.
Rigid tapping is standard as is the inclusion of a swarf conveyor within the totally enclosed guarding.
