Traceability made while batching spice
mixtures
A controller along with a weighing platform continuously monitors batching of individual recipe components and consumption data can be easily calculated and printed as a report by a printer.
Artur Heymann was founded in 1897, the company is based in Luebeck-Siems, Germany and consists of 140 employees The company produces canned fish products

Stainless scales weigh in in hazardous areas
Weighing in hazardous areas is often associated with cost-intensive, specially developed equipment and complicated accessories.
Artur Heymann's assortment of products ranges from standard fish canned in a variety of sauces all the way to delicatessen canned fish with gourmet ingredients and garnishing.
Heymann is represented on the market with its 'Heyco', 'Wefina' and 'Leckermaeulchen' brand products.
Spice mixtures of 2 tons per day are batched in the plant's 'spice kitchen' for the many different sauces needed for the fish products.

Reference laboratory balances weigh without errors
Sartorius balances are synonymous, says the company, with performance and operating reliability and this also applies to the new LA Reference laboratory balances.
Then the sauces are filled along with the fish into the cans.
Batching the spice mixture is done on a mobile scale mounted on a trolley.
This mobility is required as the raw ingredient hoppers are located on the left and right along a corridor.
The scale on the trolley is moved from component to component.
These powdery components, such as salt and paprika, are then manually batched onto the scale using a scoop (mixed batching).
In the past, a scale was used without a controller.
Due to the strong vibration, it took a long time for the scale reading to work.
Another issue that prompted Heymann to invest in the Sartorius Batch-X5 controller was the function the controller offered for batch traceability and for totalling the amounts of raw materials consumed.
The features of this controller enabled Heymann to be recertified for compliance with the International Food Standard (IFS).
Sartorius met Heymann's requirements by installing the Batch-X5 controller along with an IS weighing platform with a weighing capacity of 60kg.
Thanks to the internal recipe databases in the Batch-X5, all the company's recipes are stored in the controller and can be retrieved on the display where needed.
The recipes are consecutively numbered and can be started by the operator simply by entering the respective number.
Batching of the individual recipe components is continuously monitored by the controller.
At the end of production, consumption data can be easily calculated and printed as a report by a printer connected to the controller.
The Batch-X5 has also significantly improved the production of partial-quantities within recipes.
The operator just has to change the recipe set point on the controller, and the component set points are then automatically recalculated.
The Sartorius IS weighing platform is also much less sensitive to vibration generated when the scale is moved on the trolley, and quickly delivers stable readouts.
As a result, components can be weighed faster.
The Batch-X5 readily met the legal requirements for batch traceability.
A further advantage for Heymann is that employees can quickly learn how to operate the controller. Request a free brochure from Sartorius UK ...
