In-line Sealtester for gas-flushed packaging

Sartorius has announced the launch of the FLI Sealtester, designed to perform in-line non-destructive seal testing of gas-flushed bags.

The company said that using the Sealtester, companies can fully automate their packaging lines, eliminating the need for manual checks by operators.

Gas-flushed bags are checked up to 120 packs per minute, with leaky bags removed from the production line by suitable ejectors.

The first measuring belt applies a predefined pressure to the bag.

In the process, the height of the bag under pressure is recorded.

At a touch of the screen, the amount of pressure applied to the bags can be continuously adjusted.

The second measuring belt exerts a maximum possible pressure on the bag without damaging it.

If there is any leakage, the pressure applied will cause air or gas to escape from the bag.

The third measuring belt repeats the process of the first measuring belt.

If the bag is gas-tight, the measured results of the first and third belts are identical.

By contrast, if the two results differ, the bag is leaky and automatically rejected.

The Sartorius tester has an 'auto-tuning' mode that automatically memorises the setting parameters.

The FLI Sealtester features a throughput of up to 180 bags per minute and is capable of detecting leaks > 0.8 mm, while delivering precise, reproducible and reliable test results.

Its stainless-steel housing and IP65 protection make the FLI Sealtester easy to clean in compliance with hygiene requirements.
