Following the recent launch of DataLase coding, marking and printing technique, Sherwood Technology, a leading colour-change specialist, is to invest heavily in R and D.

Sherwood Technology, the leading colour-change specialist, has committed significant new investment into strategic Research and Development The decision is made at a time of new and exciting developments within the company following its recent launch of DataLaseT, a new generation coding, marking and printing technique

Combining chemistry, substrate conversion and laser energy, this groundbreaking technology uses very low power laser light for the high speed printing of images.

Sherwood has embarked on a licensing and trademarking strategy to stimulate take-up of DataLaseT.

By fostering long-lasting and beneficial partnerships with chemical, substrate and Laser Imaging experts, Sherwood has substantially simplified the integration of DataLase chemistry within existing supply chains.

Collaborations within the field have led to the company's current need to invest into its vision of a digital imaging and printing future.

With extensive experience in the formulation of colour change compounds, Sherwood is now positioning itself at the forefront of advanced molecular design.

To facilitate this a substantial development programme in underway, and Sherwood has significantly strengthened its R and D team.

With this new focus on R and D, Sherwood has appointed two new Development Scientists, Doctors Joe Gaunt and Chris Wyres.

Both are leaders in their fields, from academia and the defence industry, respectively.

Their appointment augments an already highly proficient R and D team, which now comprises four PhD, and three Graduate Scientists.

The company will benefit from Gaunt and Wyres' combined experience in advanced polymer and inorganic chemistry/synthesis in the defence and research industries.

Their roles will be instrumental in initiating Sherwood's development programme.

Sherwood's current investment in R and D is the start of a detailed programme to elevate the technology; customize it to hardware solutions in the market; and to protect Sherwood's advantage at the vanguard of development in colour change science.

Commenting on Sherwood's investment strategy, Steve Kelly, Sherwood's Managing Director, said "We are delighted to announce the company's new R and D policy - it is a positive step towards consolidating Sherwood as a global leader in the field of colour change science aligned to industry.

Gaunt and Wyres' appointments reflect Sherwood's ability to embrace ambitious programmes to license and implement our DataLaseT technology.".
