Sherwood Technology is to collaborate in a licence agreement with Domino - an international producer of CO2 laser-marking systems - to supply DataLase to a world-wide market.

Sherwood Technology is pleased to announce its collaboration with Domino - the largest international producer of CO2 laser-marking systems - to supply DataLase to a world-wide market The companies have recently signed a supply licence agreement

The agreement will enable Domino to supply a total coding and printing solution to a number of sectors world-wide, including pharmaceutical, food and beverage and product security.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies will share the benefit of Domino selling its lasers along with the DataLase consumables to Domino's customers.

Sherwood will not only be supplying its patented DataLase colour change solution but will also be making its new DataLase Masterbatch available via Domino's global supply chain.

Colin Mills, Marketing Director at Domino, comments: "This agreement provides a unique opportunity for Domino, since DataLase enables us to offer a 'complete marking and coding solution' to our clients.

Our lasers allow high performance coding of a superior quality and when combined with Sherwood's DataLase, in contrast to other methods, we are able to produce an indelible, permanent mark that does not smear, peel or fade away." The companies originally worked together to supply a full solution of lasers and DataLase to customers in Europe, including Muller Dairies.

"DataLase is set to redefine the process of marking a range of substrates," says Steve Kelly, Managing Director of Sherwood.

"With its strong commitment to research and development, Domino is the perfect partner to help us supply our revolutionary color-change solution to the global market." Datalase combines chemistry, substrate conversion and laser energy, using very low power laser light for the high speed printing of images.

DataLase is a precise, non-contact alternative to traditional printing methods, providing an infinite array of solutions, for example date-coding, bar-coding and graphics.

It is completely flexible and is equally suitable for metal decoration, flexible packaging, paper, board and plastics.

Research is also underway into making the technique available for an infinite number of applications including the direct marking of glass and confectionery or pharmaceutical tablets.

DataLase Masterbatch is specifically aimed at the plastics industry and can be added directly to the polymer to be extruded or injection moulded.
