Sherwood Technology, the UK's leading colour change specialist, has entered an exclusive worldwide license agreement with Sessions of York.

Sherwood Technology, the UK's leading colour change specialist, has entered an exclusive worldwide license agreement with Sessions of York.

The collaboration enables Sessions to combine its labelling expertise with Sherwood's colour change and specialist manufacturing know-how in order to produce the Gamma Sterilisation Indicator labels over a ten year period.

The labels provide an immediate visible record of all products and equipment that have undergone a volume sterilisation process.

Sessions of York will continue to apply their registered brand name of 'Detex' to the Gamma Sterilisation Indicator labels.

Sherwood's self-adhesive indicator labels undergo a simple, chemical colour-change when exposed to gamma radiation.

The labels change from yellow to red when activated - there is a bold and distinct colour-change from 5kGy up to 100kGy.

This provides a 'yes / no' indicator of gamma exposure for a wide range of applications, including food irradiation and medical and surgical products sterilisation.

The labels form part of Sherwood's extensive range of colour change solutions, from virtual labelling to low cost printing technology on products, packaging and even on food.

Sessions of York specialise in the supply of customised label solutions to customers in most market sectors and in many parts of the world.

The company keeps abreast of the very latest design, production and quality assurance technologies in order to be able to react quickly to ever-changing customer requirements.

"This agreement will enable us to combine the indicator labels with our customised label solutions to offer a complete range of self-adhesive labels to a wide range of clients," comments David Embleton, Sales and Marketing Director at Sessions of York.

"With Sessions of York's commitment to customer satisfaction and success, the company is ideally placed to bring our indicator labels to a wider market," comments Trevor Wilson, Commercial Director of Sherwood.

"This new arrangement will enable us to concentrate on our core business of developing colour change solutions for print, packaging and on-product marking applications.
