Rayner's new TROPOS system will replace existing bespoke and proprietary AS/400-based applications TROPOS, which is designed to drive planning from a model of the user's production process rather than a clunky bill-of-materials-based MRP engine, has become a leading player in the food and drink sector.

Described by Benchmark Research as 'one of the top three vendors in the process sector', SSI solutions are used by food companies including G and J Greenall, Saxbys, St Ivel and Morrison Bowmore.

SSI beat vendors such as Intentia and Sanderson to the Rayner and Cauldron contracts.

The GBP 500,000 deal includes financials from CODA, reporting tools from Cognos and EDI software from SAA Consultants - Rayner receives up to 60 per cent of its orders via EDI, though the group says it expects to move towards internet ordering in the near future.
