Metal detection in food production eliminates risk
Kraft Foods protects both its reputation and its production equipment by using S+S metal detection equipment to ensure that the ingredients used in its Cappuccino powder are free from contamination.
Kraft Foods protects both its reputation and its production equipment by using S+S metal detection equipment to ensure that the ingredients used in the production of Kraft Cappuccino powder are free from contamination.
To meet Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) requirements, all bulk ingredients are checked for ferrous and non-ferrous metal contamination at goods inwards as they pass along vacuum tubes to the mixing equipment.
This inspection at the very start of the production process eliminates the risk of damage to the mixing equipment.
If contamination is detected, the S+S 'Quick Flap System', widely used in the food industry, minimises waste and loss of production by rejecting only the contaminated material.
The S+S GF 4000 Sensity metal separation equipment used by Kraft is fitted into the existing vertical vacuum product delivery system without the layout of the pipes needing to be changed.
Even at very high conveying speeds, the S+S metal detection equipment protects the downstream processing machines and ensures product integrity is maintained without interrupting production flow.
Kraft Foods, Derrick Lyme says, 'We have been using S+S metal detectors since 2002 and the new GF 4000 Sensity installation makes our quality assurance fully compliant with HACCP.
Not only does this mean that our customers can safely enjoy their cappuccino, it also ensures that our production equipment is safe from damage due to metal contamination.'.
