High performance chain hoists, covering the 0.25 tonnes to two tonnes range, were launched by Street Crane at the Promat show in Chicago on February 12.

New high performance chain hoists, covering the 0.25 tonnes to two tonnes range, were launched by Street Crane at the Promat show in Chicago on February 12 Precision engineered to give superior levels of safety, reliability and productivity; the CX series is designed to give a low lifetime cost of ownership

CX hoists with eye suspension units are configured for fixed position workstations.

The addition of CX trolley units makes them suited to powered or push travel in conjunction with EOT cranes, jib cranes or monorails.

All CX models have neat and streamlined cases to IP55 making them ideal for use indoors or outdoors in engineering, construction, logistics and other applications.

Safety features include fail-safe DC disc brakes, asbestos free linings, fool-proof plug-in electrical connections and overload protection.

Precision manufacture of components such as the chain guide and hardened and ground involute helical gears, in a gear assembly permanently immersed in oil, promote maintenance-free long life.

Brakes, for example, are designed for one million full load cycles before the need for the first adjustment.

Productivity is promoted by dual speed 2/8 pole motors, precision calibrated high strength chains and durable brake/clutch linings.

The CX series hoists are modular in concept.

Where components do require replacement, or the hoist needs upgrading, new components are easy to install so the hoist is quickly returned to service.

Customisation to site conditions is also possible.

Motors are available for 50Hz or 60Hz operation in a range of voltages.

Chain lengths are variable to suit the application and users have the option of fixed position or variable hoist limit switches.

Hoists are the workhorses of many engineering, construction and logistics operations.

Street's CX series hoist is part of an ongoing programme to offer series produced hoists to meet every need in the 0.25 tonnes to 100 tonne range.

All hoists are of advanced design and modular in construction to ensure high efficiency, reliability and the flexibility to meet individual client needs.

The programme will make Street a strong challenger in all market sectors.

The introduction of the CX chain hoist, launched at Promat, Chicago on February 12, is the second stage in Street's strategy to offer a complete range of pre-engineered hoists from 0.25 tonnes to 100 tonnes.

The new CX series covers needs up to two tonnes.

The ZX range, introduced three years ago, meets needs up to 25 tonnes.

The soon to be announced TVX will meet needs up to 100 tonnes.

This will enable Street to meet the needs of independent crane builders who require a full range of advanced, series built quality hoists.

In parallel with this the company will offer its trade partners a software package to give price and technical data for all standard hoists up to 100 tonnes.

Managing director Andrew Pimblett explained, "We aim to be a complete one-stop-shop, having grown our hoist sales by 50 percent in the last year we aim to grow by a similar amount in 2001.".
