A series of mid-range overhead crane hoists are claimed will set new standards for productivity and reliable lifting and offer options drum, gearing, controls and other equipment.

Street Crane Company is launching mid-range hoists (zero to 25 tonnes safe working load) for the needs of the engineering sector The ZX6 and ZX8 Series hoists set new standards for safety, reliability and performance, said Street

They offer unrivalled flexibility with multiple options on drum, gearing, controls and other equipment.

ZX6 and ZX8 Series hoists are the product of a radical design process.

They are engineered for high volume production, but with the adaptability to meet individual customer needs.

The hoists have 30% fewer components than their predecessors, are quicker to build and offer users exceptional performance, reliability and value.

The gearbox is one of the principal components in any hoist, so the ZX6 and ZX8 Series features hardened precision ground gears that are immersed in oil within a machined gearbox case.

In common with other Street Crane hoists the units have an open plan design for easy access to components and to promote cooling.

They are also designed to minimise height and overall dimensions so that they occupy only the minimum space, making them suitable for modern low-rise workshops.

The design changes have enabled Street Crane to up-rate duty classifications.

Long term reliability has been proven by an intensive programme of accelerated life tests.

This allowed the effect of many years operation to be compressed into a few weeks 24/7 operation.

With full loads, lift and fall cycles were followed with speed changes and pauses so that mechanisms were severely challenged.

Advanced vibration analysis was also undertaken to isolate and optimise the performance of each individual component.

High volume production of the new hoists for worldwide distribution means scale economies will benefit UK users.

ZX6 and ZX8 hoists will be offered on whole cranes engineered by the company, but will also be available as stand alone components for other applications where reliable lifting is required.

In parallel with the start of production at Street's Derbyshire factory, trade partners Nanjing Hoisting Machinery General Works Company (NHM), will also start- up manufacture of ZX6 and ZX8 hoists for the Chinese home market.

In an agreement signed last year, NMH already manufacture under licence the complete range of fully engineered Street Cranes in China for the local market.
