Tube labelling machine order illustrates trend
An ongoing industry trend is towards labelling tubes as opposed to using pre-decorated tubes; a trend that has been evident since the arrival of bespoke tube labelling machines.
The plant sprays in the region of 120,000 bottles in a typical day thanks to its infra red curing system and the new equipment has now allowed Star to adopt more environmentally friendly water based paints as its core coating material.
The company added that the plant is capable of simulating a variety of traditional finishes - coloured and etched glass simulations - as well as more innovative metallics, pearlescents, flip tones and reactive coatings, such as thermochromatics.
Bottles can be screen printed afterwards thanks to the introduction of a single screen printing line geared to medium and short run prints.
It is hoped that the improvements will yield additional capacity and quality as well as greater flexibility and efficiency in bottle and colour changes.
