Offering a high degree of versatility with different feed wheel angle settings, centreless finishing machine is designed for a cylindrical parts including tubes, pipes, pins and shafts.

Surtech, one of the UK's leading suppliers of abrasive belt grinding and polishing machines has launched its latest centreless finishing machine, Model 128, a low cost unit designed for a range of cylindrical parts including tubes, pipes, pins and shafts Loaded with features, Model 128 offers a high degree of versatility with feed wheel angle settings for speeds ranging from 0-10m/min and diameter settings of between 5 - 120mm

A spring loaded contact pressure control is also incorporated into the design.

While offering a standard throughfeed mode, Model 128 has been engineered to enable plunge grinding as well as offering grinding for tapered and even shouldered parts.

Performance and reliability is delivered viaq a twin speed 3.3kW abrasive belt drive motor, rated for continuous use while the abrasive belt itself is generously sized at 2000 x 75mm.

Health and Safety with respect to clean air is catered for and light duty applications can benefit from the inclusion of a bolt on dust extractor while for users experiencing medium to heavy duty work, a range of stand alone dust extraction units are available.

Although accompanied by a low price tag, versatility has not been compromised with Model 128 being designed to offer a range of finishes: coarse ground finishes with abrasive belts, satin finishes with abrasive impregnated nylon belts, and mirror finishes with polishing belts.

The standard design of the Model 128 has been developed for dry operation but for heat sensitive materials and special finishes, a wet operation version is available which not only improves the quality of the finish but substantially prolongs abrasive belt life.

In accordance with customers' varying applications and requirements, Model 128 can be adapted to suit a range of needs via an extensive range of optional extras such as contact wheels ranging between 30 - 80 shore hardness, conveyor systems to suit all tube sizes and weights plus a choice of blade or roller tube supports.

With modern abrasive belts perfectly capable of cutting and finishing all manner of metals, plastics, elastomers and composites, Model 128 offers wide-ranging and cost-effective performance.

Demonstrations and testing are available at Surtech's fully equipped Abrasive Test Centre in Birmingham.
