Abrasive machine automatically radiuses corners
Abrasive belt machine will automatically radius corners corners on metal enclosures in seconds, as the abrasive belt head will pivot around the corner automatically.
A sixth model deburrs top and bottom edges simultaneously.
Sheets must be within a size range that can easily be manipulated by hand.
Most manual models work on the slack of belt and remove burrs and clean edges at the same time.
For slightly higher volumes Model 844 consists of a conveyor and two edge deburring heads.
The machine is also available with an optional third head to remove tabs from nibbled sheet, but only one edge per pass.
There is no limit for the length of the sheet but widths are restricted to a max.
of approx.
600mm.
For sheets larger than 600 mm wide and for low volumes abrasive belt pad grinders are a lower price alternative to machines with a conveyor.
Surtech have three models in their range, L84, L85 and LS 90.
Pad grinders can handle sheet up to 3000mm long and up to 1000mm wide.
They can be used for deburring and for graining.
Their cost is a fraction of the cost of a wide belt machine, but the operation is manual and much slower.
For fully automated deburring of all edges in one pass and for surface graining offer narrow and wide abrasive belt machines with a rubber belt conveyor.
With this method sheets are placed on the conveyor and then pass under one or more abrasive belt or brush heads.
All edges are deburred in a single pass.
Belt conveyor machines are available in working widths of 150mm, 300mm, 450mm, 600mm, 900mm, 1100mm, 1300mm and 1500mm.
Machines designed for deburring and finishing are equipped with belt conveyors.
Machines designed for graining only are equipped with roller conveyors and a billy roll.
Only a billy roll machine can produce the professional sheet graining effect.
The machines described above cost from GBP 750 to GBP 25 000.
Most of them can be viewed and tested at Surtech's Abrasive Test Centre in Birmingham.
