Multihead machines polish many flat
parts
For polishing large amounts of flat parts such as sheet, strip, extrusions and hollow sections, a multihead machine can comfortably manage the surface area that requires polishing.
Surface Technology Products (SurTech) will be exhibiting its Multihead Abrasive Belt Finisher at the UK's MACH 2008 exhibition on Stand 4808 in Hall 4 Where most mechanical finishing operations require several stages to achieve the final result, the Multihead Belt Finisher can complete parts in one process saving production times and costs, said SurTech

Abrasive machine automatically radiuses corners
Abrasive belt machine will automatically radius corners corners on metal enclosures in seconds, as the abrasive belt head will pivot around the corner automatically.
The SurTech Multihead finishers are available with anything from two to six heads.
A machine with between two and four heads will suit most finishing processes, but finishers with up to six heads are available for high production needs and specialist finishes.
For industry applications where large amounts of flat parts such as sheet, strip, extrusions and hollow sections require finishing, only a multihead machine can comfortably manage the surface area that requires polishing, said SurTech.

Pencil shaped chamfering tool reaches small areas
Suited for chamfering external and internal straight and contoured edges a portable chamfering machine, weighing just 800g, can chamfer holes as small as 7mm diameter.
Utilising the correct amount of polishing heads and fitting each with an increasingly finer belt enables the end user to complete parts with just one pass.
This allows the SurTech Multihead machines to finish parts with a feed rate way beyond the capabilities of single head machines.
The throughfeed machines are available in working widths of 150mm, 200mm and 300mm.
To prevent component heat distortion, improve surface finish and extend belt life the finishers are generally run wet.
To further enhance the surface finish of components the heads are available with 5kW to over 10kW motors with conveyors having a variable speed control from 1m/min to over 10m/min.
If parts are flat to within a tolerance of a few thousandths of an inch (few 0.01mms) it is acceptable to use fixed heads.
However, for parts with uneven surfaces or particular features the Multihead Abrasive Belt Finisher is available with floating heads with a constant contact pressure control.
To meet the exacting needs of the end user the Surtech Multihead Throughfeed Machines are available with optional extras including the following.
* Motorised thickness settings.
* Ammeters fitted to each head for control of contact pressures.
* Oscillating belts for improved finishes.
* Variable belt speeds to maximise belt performance.
These additional features guarantee that SurTech can provide the exacting Multihead Abrasive Belt Finisher to meet your needs, said the c ompany to manufacturingtalk.com.
