As well as polishing parts with complicated shapes, a buffing machine will be shown at MACH 2008 by SurTech for finishing SS fabrications, sheet and plate, hollow sections and enclosures.

SurTech will be showing a FAB buffing machine for polishing workpieces that would otherwise be difficult to do manually The FAB buffing machine will be demonstrated at the UK's MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition also working on stainless steel fabrications, sheet and plate, hollow sections and enclosures

The FAB machine is built up of a frame with guide rails.

The guide rails provide horizontal and vertical movement of a buffing head while workpieces are moved along the bed.

bed lengths are 1500mm or 3000mm.

In its standard specifications, the FAB machine can buff workpieces up to 600mm high and lengths up to 1200mm.

* Buffing head - the buffing head has a single speed 2.2kW motor that rotates clockwise and anti-clockwise.

The FAB holds buffs, brushes and wheels up to 250mm diameter with a maximum width of up to 150mm.

To improve polishing efficiency and to cover all the recommended cutting speeds the buffing head is available with an inverter as an optional extra to increase the wheel speed.

* Customisation - SurTech has developed dedicated versions of the FAB buffing machine with swiveling buffing heads for polishing tube longitudinally.

The FAB can carry out grinding operations ifor jobs such as weld seam removal, scale removal and surface graining and blending operations.

The company also offers a vertical abrasive belt head, which can replace the buffing head or can compliment the buffing to reduce the actual working length by approximately 500mm.

To view or test your own parts on the FAB machine please contact SurTech's Birmingham Abrasive Test Centre or alternately come and visit the company at MACH 2008.
