For use on surface grinding machines, a series of fine pole transverse electromagnetic chucks provides stronger holding power than similar designs on the market.

A recently established North American subsidiary of Spann Automations Normteiletechnik (SAV), Nuremberg, Germany, SAV North America, has launched several workholding lines in the USA, Canada, and Mexico The first of these is a series of fine pole transverse electromagnetic chucks for surface, or reciprocating, grinding applications

* Extra holding power - the pole orientation of these chucks is 90 deg to the grinding forces.

This orientation, said SAV to manufacturingtalk.com, provides stronger holding power than similar designs on the market.

Further, an increased number of magnetic circuits result in improved performance over other chucks in this class.

The number of circuits is relational to the size of the chuck.

The SAV surface grinder chucks offer consistent, uniform holding conditions over the entire work area.

The nominal holding force is 145 lbf/in2 (100N/cm2).

Their low profile design increases machine capacity.

This design is also available in permanent and electro-permanent variations.

Standard sizes are available from stock in the Connecticut facility.

SAV engineers can also design and build custom sizes for special applications.

* About SAV - SAV is a designer, manufacturer, and supplier of standard and custom-engineered workholding solutions.

Incorporating mechanical, magnetic, and hydraulic components, SAV is particularly well known in Europe for its innovation and creativity applying new technologies for typical and challenging workholding needs.

With headquarters in Nuremberg, Germany and manufacturing plants in Nuremberg and Mittweida, SAV sustains operational excellence, from development to delivery of its workholding lines.

The establishment of SAV North America in South Windsor, Connecticut in 2007 ensures support for engineering, sales, and distribution in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
