Rob Butler, Supply Manager at Electrolux Outdoor Products, stated, "Using the Syncron Planning and Scheduling software will enable us to produce realistic plans and give information to the distribution centres and customers with greater speed and accuracy.
It will also allow us to take advantage of functionality within the system, such as 'what-if' analysis, to identify capacity limits and manage more effectively." He also spoke of the selection process, "After extensive analysis a shortlist of five companies was formed and out of those, we saw Syncron Planning and Scheduling as the best overall match for our requirements." The factory, where approximately two hundred different items of garden equipment are assembled, employs three hundred and fifty people on a permanent basis and an additional 400 temporary workers to fulfil the needs of the Regional Distribution Centres (based in the UK, Sweden and France) whose main function is to distribute to outlets across Europe.
Syncron Planning and Scheduling version 5.1 will be integrated with Electrolux's IBM DB2/400 server.
The implementation will also involve @ITS, the IT division of Electrolux, which will have an important part to play in producing the interface specification and design.
