Inverter power sources serve robotic MIG welders
ABB has developed ARCITEC II, a new generation of IGBT inverter power sources designed specifically for the robotic MIG/MAG welding of all materials used in metal fabrication.
Flexible robotic welding cell takes larger pieces
A new modular, flexible robotic arc welding system is designed to accommodate larger workpieces, which can be welded in a fixed position.
The investment, which is being phased over a two year period, includes new machinery for the industrial die-cutting of airbag wraps, and the training and employment of experienced personnel to manage production, quality control and packaging.
The new production facilities will more than double the capacity of the pan-European specialist supplier to supply the airbag market to a total of up to 12 million units per year.
It is expected that the increased efficiency and speed of the new processes will drive unit costs further down in an already highly competitive market.

Self-clinching nut is 40% closer in thin metal
Now there is a self-clinching nut that can be installed in thin steel sheet down to 0.63mm and it can be mounted up to 40% closer to the edge of sheet metal than existing clinch nuts.
The investment has also speeded up the company's accreditation with TS16949, the most demanding standard required for component manufacturers in the automotive market.
"This investment in production technology and people is another clear sign of our commitment to the growing automotive safety market," said Jean-Luc Verstraeten, Managing Director of Advanced Label Technologies BV.
