Coated carbide tool inserts improve steel turning

A Taegutec product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team May 30, 2007

A grade of cemented coated carbide with improved wear resistance and toughness has been developed for improving performance in the turning of steel products.

TaeguTec has launched another innovative new insert grade.

The TT8115 grade of cemented coated carbide has been developed for high performance turning of steel.

This new grade has both improved wear resistance and toughness compared to the existing TaeguTec TT1500 grade that it will replace.

TaeguTec will phase out the remaining TT1500 coated carbide insert grade as the new TT8115 grade will replace the current TT1500 inserts.

The TT8115 grade has a new carbide substrate and coating designed to offer superior wear resistance and toughness.

The new substrate is extremely hard and its exceptional edge toughness is credit to a cobalt-enriched layer.

As a result of this excellent combination, this grade is suitable both at high cutting speeds as well as with light interrupted cuts in steel.

The new TaeguTec TT8115 grade is at home with wet or dry machining and its incredible tool life is well suited to mass production operations.

The extended tool life gives the end user confidence to allow the machine to run unmanned for long periods of time without continually checking for tool breakages.

The TT8115 has an improved plastic deformation resistance that not only makes it well suited to a vast range of applications but also gives it significant tool life benefits over its predecessor - the TT1500.
