Taegutec grade suits diverse range of cast irons

Taegutec has introduced the TT6080 insert grade as an improved version of the existing TT6030 and TT6060 grades for milling cast irons.

The TT6080 milling insert encompasses the application range of both the TT6030 and TT6060 grades, while delivering enhanced performance benefits.

Taegutec's grades for machining cast iron come in two different types: the TT6290 for grey cast iron machining at high speeds and the TT6080 grade for machining both plain cast iron and nodular cast iron.

The company said the new grade reduces costs, increases tool life and enhances productivity.

The TT6080 grade is capable of operating at low to medium speeds and is a good choice for manufacturers that are machining a diverse range of cast irons.

It utilises an upgraded A1TiN coating on a TiN layer that has a coating affinity with K20H that increases coherence, leading to longer tool life.

Compared with existing coating grades, Taegutec said tool life is lengthened by 10-30 per cent on both grey cast iron and ductile cast iron with the TT6080.

The coating process also incorporates Taegutec's TMP coating and this enhances swarf removal and reduces friction to prevent built-up edges.

According to Taegutec, the new grade has already proven to improve tool life by 100 per cent over its TT6030 predecessor when machining FC250 cast iron at feed rates of 300mm/min and speeds of 160m/min.

The speed and feed range of the TT6080 is said to be diverse, allowing the insert to enhance productivity and tool-life benefits for customers.
