UKAS Laboratory Improved
With new equipment and procedures in place, Taylor Hobson laboratory is accredited and authorised to perform Test Measurements to UKAS standards.
Taylor Hobson is world-renowned for its UKAS laboratory, which is second only to the NPL in the United Kingdom.
Notably, it remains the only commercial facility outside of the National Physical Laboratory authorized to provide UKAS traceable calibration of surface roughness and roundness masters or artefacts within the UK.
Now, with new equipment and procedures in place, the laboratory is also accredited and authorised to perform Test Measurements to UKAS standards.
This means that customers may send in manufactured components, prototypes, first articles and other critical artefacts for the measurement of dimension, surface roughness and geometry with documented results fully supported by UKAS Traceable Certification.
This new capability further expands the scope and reputation of Taylor Hobson's Centre of Excellence.
The Centre has experienced, professional metrologists along with state of the art measuring instruments.
Such a formidable combination of skill and equipment is hard to find in any one team anywhere in the world.
The instruments and people in the Centre of Excellence are unlike any youûll find elsewhere.
To begin, the metrology engineers are cross-trained to fluency in all aspects of measurement.
Then, to give these experts the tools that they require, Taylor Hobson has invested in leading edge equipment that has been fine tuned and blueprinted above and beyond the standard commercial specifications.
As a result, precision manufacturers now have access to more than a million pounds worth of the best metrology instruments in the world and unequalled capability for UKAS calibration and testing.
Best of all, the same Customer Service Metrologists that care for and operate these advanced systems are also available to train your Quality Control personnel.
Along with UKAS calibration and testing, the Centre of Excellence also provides metrology seminars for surface finish and roundness at basic and advanced course levels.
To assist operators in gaining better proficiency and higher levels of efficiency, Taylor Hobson offers practical hands-on instrument training.
All of the theoretical and practical training programs are conducted by a team of Customer Service Metrologists who have many years experience in solving real measurement problems.
Product demonstrations and a unique try before you buy program, which gives customers an opportunity to thoroughly validate a measuring instrument they intend to purchase, are available through the Centre of Excellence.
Contract Measurement Services are available for manufacturers with only occasional need for ultra high precision inspection of components.
