A TBT Division/Nagel Precision product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Apr 4, 2002

A drilling centre combines deephole drilling with five other operations: spiral drilling and tapping; face and form Milling and counter-boring and measuring to machine in one clamping.

The BW center combines deephole drilling with five other operations: Spiral drilling and Tapping; Face and Form Milling and Counter Boring and Measuring.

It does all operations in one workpiece clamping eliminating time-consuming machine re-configurations.

The BW-200 machine has the floor print of 15.1'ft x 7.6ft.

The machine print includes high-pressure pumps, coolant filtering, chip conveyor and hydraulics.

The application of the machines is almost unlimited.

With a spindle RPM up to 10,000, 16 kW drive and a thrust force of 10kN, the BW-200 covers the diameter range from 0.15in -1in (up to 25mm), a maximum drill depth of 31.5in.

Conventional spiral drilling maximum 1in, counter boring maximum 1.2in, Tapping maximum M25x3.

(Larger threads by means of interpolation milling.) Milling is possible with a maximum chip volume of 8in3/min.

The X-Y-Z-W axis strokes are 31.5in, 23.6in, 43.3in and 15.7in.

Conventional tool connection is executed using HSK50 connections.

With a starting price of less than $250,000, more than 70 fully CNC-controlled BW machines have been sold.

Service and build for these machines is provided out of our Ann Arbor, MI facility.
