3D Scanners (UK) have been appointed by InnovMetric Software as distributor in the UK and Ireland manufacturing markets, for PolyWorks inspection and reverse-engineering software.

3D Scanners (UK) are pleased to announce that they have been appointed by InnovMetric Software as their Master Distributor in the UK and Ireland manufacturing markets, for PolyWorks - InnovMetric's leading point cloud based inspection and reverse-engineering software solution Nik Alimaras, sales director of 3D Scanners (UK) said: "This appointment as a Master Distributor for PolyWorks software represents a natural progression in the development of our business activities as well as a strengthening of our business relationship with InnovMetric, with whom we have worked closely for many years

We have built up our expertise in using PolyWorks through our Bureau scanning services, where PolyWorks has played an integral part in providing a wide range of scanning solutions for customers from industries as diverse as automotive and fashion.

As a result we have been both users and resellers of PolyWorks for a number of years.

This led to discussions with InnovMetric about expanding our sales and support activities and I am delighted that these discussions have culminated with this appointment as their Master Distributor for the UK and Ireland." Marc Boulanger, director of Worldwide Sales at InnovMetric Software, said: "PolyWorks marketing in the UK has always primarily been done through bundled resellers who successfully distribute PolyWorks along with their respective 3D scanning equipment.

However, as the market gets bigger and more mature, there is now a strong need to add a 'hardware-neutral' partner as a Master Distributor to cover the more 'software driven' accounts", he continued.

"3D Scanners (UK) also bring their vast experience in reverse engineering 'to the table'." Alimaras added: "The development of this opportunity will inevitably lead to some other changes in our business going forward.

In future it is important that the Bureau scanning service we offer our customers is very much hardware neutral as the PolyWorks software can work equally effectively with a wide range of 3D scanning equipment.

Consequently we are pleased to have reached an amicable understanding with Metris UK that allows us to withdraw from our arrangement to sell ModelMaker scanning systems in the UK.

This will allow Metris to take in-house, the responsibility for marketing these systems following their recent acquisition of 3D Scanners (a company not related to 3D Scanners (UK)) who previously designed and produced the ModelMaker system." Alimaras concluded, "Importantly, this decision to not sell hardware will enable us to establish independence from any one 3D scanning equipment manufacturer.

This freedom will allow us to demonstrate the benefits of PolyWorks unrivalled point cloud processing tools across a range of equipment manufacturers, rather than just one, as has been the case in the past.

Over time this will also allow us to expand our Bureau service whilst at the same time marketing and supporting the PolyWorks solution to those customers who already have, or are considering the acquisition of their own 3D scanning systems." * About 3D Scanners (UK) - 3D Scanners (UK) are an independent, privately owned company based in Coventry, England.
