Boeing chooses quality assurance software
Tecnomatix Technologies announced that The Boeing Company has has adopted the Tecnomatix eMPower Quality Solution as one of its corporate standards for quality assurance.
Cost reduction is primarily fuelled by lower hardware, software and maintenance costs, and by lower costs of IT personnel.
Increased flexibility results from easier market access to users trained on Windows environment (as opposed to Unix); it also comes from the use of high-mobility laptop PCs that facilitate activities such as design reviews, support for sales proposal presentations or robot program downloading at plants.
In addition, easy communication with other popular Windows applications makes eM-Workplace for Windows a highly available and flexible solution for users everywhere.

Discussing collaborative e-Manufacturing
Harel Beit-On, President and CEO of Tecnomatix Technologies, is a keynote speaker on trends in collaborative e-Manufacturing at Daratech's SUMMIT2001 conference, Boston, U.S.
Supply chain software is more powerful, quicker
New powerful suite of Web-based applications enables sharing and viewing of manufacturing project and process information across the extended enterprise and supply chain.
ROBCAD was originally developed and marketed by Tecnomatix in the 1980s to help process engineers quickly and easily perform design, simulation and off-line programming of automated workcells.
Now re-branded as eM-Workplace, it is used widely by OEMs, line builders and design houses involved in detailed process design or off-line programming in such manufacturing areas as Automotive, Aerospace and Heavy Industries.
And, because it is integrated with eMServer, the Tecnomatix Web-enabled server, data created with eM-Workplace can be shared with other MPM applications and personnel throughout the extended enterprise.
Just as with the eM-Workplace for Unix product, eM-Workplace for Windows imposes no limits on the number of robots that can be simulated, while still performing at peak power and productivity levels.
It is also 100% compatible with the Unix version, thanks to its identical cell and component data format.
This is especially advantageous for large manufacturing operations with mixed hardware environments.
And eM-Workplace for Windows can easily match the performance of many high-end Unix-based systems.
Key features and capabilities of the new eM-Workplace for Windows include: * optimization and validation of the entire process, including robot programs.
* reuse of past designs and best practices.
* several vertical applications supporting various manufacturing processes: spot- and arc-welding, painting, etc.
* support for most common robot controllers, such as ABB, Kuka and FANUC.
"Major improvements in power and graphics capabilities, combined with dramatically lowered cost of ownership, have made PCs an excellent strategy for manufacturers looking for cost-effective solutions," said Harel Beit-On, chairman and CEO of Tecnomatix Technologies.
"Our customers have told us that eM-Workplace has greatly facilitated their decision-making, helped them reduce capital investment, and lowered planning and assembly times.
One of our primary objectives is to help manufacturers reduce total costs of ownership and operations - and eM-Workplace for Windows platforms helps manufacturers everywhere come closer to achieving that goal." Tecnomatix Technologies (NASDAQ: TCNO) is the driving force in Manufacturing Process Management (MPM) solutions.
Today's leading global manufacturers are adopting MPM solutions to expand revenue potential and reduce costs by enhancing manufacturing's ability to support the business strategy of choice.
These companies are using Tecnomatix eMPowerT MPM solutions to accelerate product introductions, shorten time to volume, and optimize production execution.
eMPower enables our customers to succeed with its collaborative, open platform and applications for defining, simulating, managing, and executing manufacturing processes across the extended enterprise.
