Greek Ministry of Defence awards contract to Telmat Industrie to supply Symcad 3D sensors for precision human-body measurement

Telmat Industrie of France and its distributor Mellon Technologies secured a major contract with the Greek Ministry of Defense to supply SYMCAD systems and software for outfitting the Greek army The SYMCAD OptiFit three-dimensional, electronic human-body measurement system, developed by Telmat, has been selected as the leading body scanning technology in the world for use by the Hellenic Ministry of Defense

The deployment of the equipment at 11 military sites in Greece took less than four months.

The system operates with 3-D sensors that use white light technology and is 98% effective.

When an individual steps into the OptiFit booth, his dimensions are measured and recorded in less than 2.5 seconds.

The Morpho-Army software package, which was delivered with the system's implementation, then performs a statistical analysis of the retrieved body-measurement data in order to efficiently manage the clothing warehouse and supplying.

Both the system and the software will benefit the Hellenic Ministry of Defense by significantly reducing time spent and costs related to providing uniforms for new recruits, allowing immediate uniform issue after measurement, optimizing and planning supplies that take new body types into account, and eliminating unused stock.

The contract also includes the creation of a national body-measurement database, which will be used for the statistical analysis of the morphology of the Greek population.

Telmat's level of expertise and proven track record will allow the Greek army to generate considerable savings that will ensure a return on the initial investment in less than one year.

The French navy, which was the first organization to use Telmat's SYMCAD measurement system in 1995, saved more than $29 million between 1995 and 2000 thanks to better uniform stock management.
