Design For Manufacturability' productivity software facilitates upstream manufacturability validation and identification of product areas that are difficult, expensive, and impossible to manufacture.

Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) services and technologies software supplier, Geometric, has released its Service Pack 1 of DFM Pro 2008 on the SolidWorks platform The release focuses on report generation functionality and 64-bit platform support

DFM Pro now generates reports that include the following.

* Tabular summary of results.

* Parametric information (expected against actual) about failure instances.

* Grouped image snapshots of failures based on failure type.

* CAD independent, browser viewable reports.

* Customizable style sheets for formatting reports.

* Report data in XML format for easy integration with other enterprise systems.

Geometric describes its DFM Pro is a revolutionary 'Design For Manufacturability' productivity tool.

It facilitates upstream manufacturability validation and identification of areas in design that are difficult, expensive, and impossible to manufacture.

DFM Pro includes advanced design rules for manufacturing processes such as milling, drilling, turning and sheet-metal fabrication.

It also contains rules to process manufacturing tolerances specified using SolidWorks Intelligent Feature Technology (SWIFT).

Tightly integrated with SolidWorks, DFM Pro is an add-in that allows designers to perform complete design checks and analysis for manufacturability, all within SolidWorks sessions.

DFM Pro 2008 on SolidWorks has been enhanced to support 64-bit Windows XP OS in order to leverage better processing power and larger computing memory.
