Target Precision, specialist sub-contract manufacturer of precision turned parts, has expanded its CNC machining capacity with the purchase of a Citizen B12 Type VI sliding headstock auto lathe.

Target Precision, the Harlow (Essex) based specialist sub-contract manufacturer of precision turned parts, has expanded its CNC machining capacity with the purchase of a Citizen B12 Type VI sliding headstock automatic lathe The acquisition brings the total number of CNC lathes installed at the company's new site to 17, including seven other Citizen B12s as well as Citizen C16, M12 and M32 sliding head autos - all supplied by NC Engineering of Watford - which enable the company to produce complex turn/mill parts up to 32 mm diameter

With a maximum turning length of 135 mm and a turning diameter of 12 mm, the five-axis B12's 2.2 kW main spindle drive produces 100 to 12,000 revs/min, while the sub-spindle is rated at 7,000 revs/min.

The machine features two driven tools and five turning tools as well as three end working tools for front and back machining.

Cycle times on the B12 are minimised through simultaneous front and back working, and the machine can contour bores and outside diameters using the simultaneous control feature.

Established in 1997 and headed up by managing director Garry Plummer, BS EN ISO 9002-accredited Target Precision has continually expanded and gained an unrivalled reputation in industry sectors like white goods, jewellery and medical as well as being particularly successful in supplying parts to the connector industry.

The company has recently moved into a new 14,600 ftı site to meet growing demand for an increasingly wider variety of complex mill/turn parts in addition to the provision of value-added services such as sub-assembly, heat treatment, plating and zone annealing.
