Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched the Evolution 60, a cost-effective UV-visible spectrophotometer, offering optional software enabling 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.

Thermo Fisher Scientific, announced the launch of its Thermo Scientific Evolution 60, a cost-effective UV-visible spectrophotometer designed for regulated laboratories, life science, QA/QC, and general research and teaching laboratories Featuring a fixed 1.0 nm bandwidth, the Evolution 60 meets all Pharmacopeia requirements and offers optional software enabling 21 CFR Part 11 compliance

Remote fibreoptic probes, a wide range of software and other accessories augment the wide breadth of Thermo Scientific UV-Visible spectrophotometry offerings.

The Evolution 60 provides a compact, robust solution with capabilities and configurations to meet an extensive array of application needs.

The instrument will be exhibited at Thermo Scientific stand 1437 at PITTCON 2007, being held February 26 to March 2 in Chicago, Illinois.

The Evolution 60 features built-in biochemical tests and a new single-cell Peltier temperature control accessory, providing an easy-to-use and accurate system for life science research.

For customers with limited sample volumes, the powerful nanoCell accessory provides very accurate and repeatable measurements using only 0.7 ul to 5 ul of solution.

Optional VERSA quartz and ATR fibreoptic probes add flexibility and increased sample throughput compared to conventional techniques such as sipper systems.

Moreover, these probes allow the new Evolution 60 to make remote measurements on samples that cannot be measured in the standard instrument sample compartment, such as those that are oxygen- or moisture-sensitive.

The Evolution 60 is available in both PC and local control configurations to suit different customer requirements.

Furthermore, an array of PC software offerings enables the instrument to be used in a wide range of applications, including routine biochemical assays, enzymatic food analysis, colour determination and sun-protection measurements.

Applications on the local control configuration can be set up at the top level of the menu, providing easy access to frequently used methods, which simplifies operation of the instrument, increases sample throughput and reduces operator error.
