Insert/outsert counting system is
PC=based
PC-based automated insert/outsert counting system is used in the printing and packaging segments of pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing operations.
The Value Engineering Alliance, a leading provider of machine vision products, announces the addition of a PC-based automated insert/outsert counting system, Count Accura, to its array of application-specific solutions used in the printing and packaging segments of pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing operations Count Accura has been specifically designed for use when exact counts of boxes or trays of inserts/outserts are required for FDA compliance, validation or reconciliation purposes

The Value Engineering Alliance, a leading provider of machine vision solutions, announces a new addition, the PIATI SBC, to its comprehensive PIATI family of ECC200 Data Matrix decoder solutions.
It advances state-of-the-art insert counting via its use of a high resolution (6 Megapixels) camera and lens combination, excellent illumination, and proprietary image processing and analysis software.
Count Accura's high resolution imaging hardware and lighting system supplies uniform illumination over larger fields of view.
This enables standard configuration Count Accura to process bigger boxes of inserts than alternative offerings that are outfitted with less capable components.

Colour inspection technology introduced
An innovative inspection technology, specifically developed to deliver comprehensive color analysis of multicolored, patterned and textured items, compares images with stored reference images.
Boxes of inserts/outserts up to 12in by 24in in size and containing a maximum of eight rows of up to 250 inserts each can be handled by the standard product.
Designed with flexibility in mind, it supports the configuration of custom-sized solutions when boxes exceed the standard system's capabilities.
In addition, Count Accura's ability to accommodate sizable fields of view associated with larger boxes in a single image gives it implementation advantages over systems that require the use of multiple images (and possibly multiple cameras) for processing.
And because Count Accura automatically locates containers of interest and positions the scanning lines used when counting, less set-up is required, box manipulation is minimised and specialised fixturing is unnecessary.
All configurations created during set-up are stored in data files.
This allows for quick and easy retrieval and use of previously processed product parameters when faced with the same set-ups in the future.
Even though a 300% redundancy check is part of Count Accura's processing, a manual verification mode is available for particularly challenging cases, which involve very high count boxes or contain exceptionally narrow inserts.
In this mode, all inserts shown on the special high magnification results screen are marked with very visible overlay lines that facilitate quadruple-check counting.
Counting times are less than 500 milliseconds and changeovers between jobs can be accomplished in under 30 seconds.
Three security levels (Administrator, Setup and Operator) are provided to give plant personnel access to only those functions necessary and sufficient for them to do their work.
A Count Accura system will be featured in Mnemonic's Booth Number 2459 in the Packaging Pavilion at INTERPHEX 2006, March 21st - 23rd at the Jacob K Javits Convention Center (New York, USA).
