A solid carbide twist drill with internal coolant supply has been designed to meet the demands of deep hole drilling.

Numerous deep drill holes are made in the metal working industry The drilling tools mainly used today, such as single-lip deep hole drills and HSS drilling tools, require a very long process time

Generally speaking, drilling becomes more and more difficult the deeper the hole that has to be drilled.

Titex has focused on this area and pushed the constraints of tool design further than ever, by developing a full carbide twist drill with internal coolant supply to meet the demands of deep hole drilling.

These twist drills can be used for most materials and are very tolerant in terms of the cooling lubricant type and feed applied.

During rotation, the chips are forced out of the hole by the drill helix.

This allows the safe transport of large, jamming chips such as the ones produced by long-chip materials.

Dry machining or processing using minimum quantity lubrication are also possible.

The result of these efforts is Titex XD technology (patent pending), eX tremely Deep - the name speaks for itself.

Titex XD technology makes extreme increases in productivity by up to 600% possible for a large range of these applications The advantage for the user is obviously this higher productivity.

What are the major advantages of XD technology and what are the reasons for this increase in productivity? * Higher feeds.

* Drilling without pecking cycles.

* Higher cutting speeds.

In addition, XD deep hole drills can be used on all 'standard machines'.

And this is possible in the diameter range of 3.0 to 20.0mm, depending on the drill depth ratio.

Yet there are even more positive effects on production.

The tools can be used on normal machining centres, for example.

There are no special requirements the machine has to meet with regard to coolant supply.

No special coolant is required, depending on the application case, the tools can also be used with minimum quantity lubrication (MQL).

Deep hole drilling on machining centres allows further working cycles to be integrated, set-up processes are reduced or no longer required at all.

The use of special machines for deep hole drilling can be reduced to an absolute minimum or abandoned completely.

Titex XD technology is built on the company's 115-year tradition as a precision tools manufacturer.

In cooperation with our customers, the technology has been refined to such an extent that the deep hole drilling process is absolutely safe and require no pecking cycles.

The cutting data are close to the values used with full carbide tools for drilling depths up to five times the diameter.

The tools achieve a high finish quality and optimum drill curve.

Deep hole drilling is complex processing with high value creation.

Thus XD technology not only stands for the tools as such, but for their optimum use as well.

And it is not only correct cutting data we're talking about.

Titex supports customers with individual consultation in order to define the most suitable drilling strategy for the respective application case.

In 2003, the first generation of full carbide drills was introduced in this area - with great success.

From then on, the range was continually extended.

Following the catalogue tools XD8 (where XD stands for eXtremely Deep and 8 for the drilling depth that can be achieved, eight times the diameter without pecking cycles) and XD12, the range is now being significantly expanded.

In the next few months, types XD16, XD20, XD25 and XD30 with a special coating will be launched on the market.

The catalogue range will be supplemented by our comprehensive performance package for special tools.
