Unattended payment terminal makes use of Chip and PIN to boost retail sales revenue and efficiency
Trident, is introducing Chip and PIN terminals for unattended card payments that unlock more of the power of the latest credit card security to increase revenue, reduce staff costs and maximise utilisation of retail floor space The terminals run on the 32-bit Linux platform, enabling fast, low-cost development, and are supported by a security certified API development kit

The two new Trintech OpenPay UPT unattended payment terminals make use of the proven OpenPay SPM secure payment module to create a robust transaction platform compatible with the latest security measures now being driven into the market by all major card issuers.
By effectively combating card payment fraud, Chip and PIN allows many more products and services, including high value goods, to be dispensed.
OpenPay UPT now allows EPOS developers and retailers to fully develop these new opportunities.

OpenPay UPT is suitable for indoor or outdoor environments.
Two versions are available, delivering a choice of motorised or non-motorised card reader.
Modular construction allows flexible placement of the card reader, and each unit facilitates meeting Disability Act requirements.
Applications include outdoor payment terminals such as pay-at-pump, ticket vending machines, prepaid mobile vending systems, product vending machines, multimedia kiosks, parking payments, self-scan and self-pay systems, and ATMs.
The OpenPay UPT routes transactions either directly or indirectly to the payment processor.
All EMV software is resident on the module and integration with the vending application is provided using Trintech's certified SmartPIN API development kit.
OpenPay UPT supports a variety of payment configurations, including use as a slave or master, or for use with a central server such as the Trintech PayWare Merchant Server.
Communication interfaces include RS232 and TCP/IP, as well as interfaces to optional external GSM/GPRS, ISDN, modem, TCP/IP or USB communications.
OpenPay UPT carries VISA PED security certification, and the smart card reader is certified to EMV Level 1 version 4.0.
Both motorised and non-motorised units feature PIN pad, reader and LCD integrated into one unit enabling straightforward incorporation into new kiosk designs.
OpenPay UPT meets tough environmental requirements.
The rugged keyboard withstands harsh treatment in outdoor applications, including high resistance to environmental effects, accidental damage and physical attack.
Chassis material options are steel or super-high impact polymer.
The units are rear mounted using a mounting bracket.
The units measure 270mm x 145mm x 205mm with the card reader included, and 192mm x 145mm x 205mm excluding the reader.
Operating Temperature range and maximum current are -15 deg C to +65 deg C and 1A for the manual reader version, and 0 deg C to +65 deg C and 2A for the motorised version.
Both versions operate from a single 12 VDC supply.
