Robot picks and places at circular
conveyors
Operating some 1.4 times faster than before, a SCARA robot offers an arc conveyor synchronisation facility, so is able to complete pick and place functions on circular and straight conveyors.
TM Robotics (Europe) will be launching the new Toshiba Machine TH650 SCARA at MACH 2004 The company can be found in hall three of the NEC, on stand 3022 between April 19 and April 23

SCARA robot has no need to return home in Hungary
SCARA robot that features absolute encoders as standard, dispensing with the need for a home return function, will be demonstrated at the forthcoming Industria 2004, Hungary.
Also on show will be the Shibaura range of Cartesian robots and the smaller TH-250 SCARA, which will be playing solitaire.
The TH650 robot meets the increasing speed, and thus productivity, demands placed on SCARAs by all sectors of the manufacturing industry.
The new robot is at least 1.4 times faster than previous models on every axis and is 1.72 times faster across the four axes on average.
It has the same footprint as the previous model and a payload of10kg, which means more power in the same sized package.
Compared to previous Toshiba Machine SCARAs, and most competing models, the robot's working envelope is substantially increased with axes one and two combining to provide a near 360deg working area.
Furthermore, the wire harness, which contained the cabling that ran between robot axes, has been replaced with an internal system.
As a result, wear and tear is drastically reduced and the height requirement of the cell is also decreased.
The TH650 is the first SCARA in the Toshiba Machine range to offer an arc conveyor synchronisation facility.
As a result, the robot is able to complete pick and place functions on circular as well as straight conveyors.
The robots can be mounted directly in-line on an assembly line or conveyor, taking up minimal space thanks to its small footprint.
This feature, together with the ease of integrating a vision system, offers customers even greater flexibility when using the robot in a production environment.
Also on the stand at MACH will be technical sales staff to help with application questions and provide visitors with details of the entire Toshiba Machine range of robots.
