Multi-axis motion control gets total
flexibility
A Eurocard rack mount motion and machine controller with built-in modular flexibility can reduce development and manufactured costs for machine builders and OEMs.
TTrio's Euro209 Eurocard rack mount motion and machine controller is a cost-effective and flexible control solution for OEMs, machine builders and automation system integrators It combines up to nine selectable axes of precision stepper or servo control with digital and analogue I/O, communications interfacing and axis expansion in a compact single Eurocard rack-mount format

Omega's ELC series DIN rail mount mini programmable logic controllers offer high speed pulse capture and high speed pulse output and are expandable to 256 I/O.
The new Euro209 has a number of hardware and software features that allow users to exactly match application requirements, minimising purchase costs, simplifying software and hardware development and reducing production timescales.
Up to eight axes of stepper control are realised on a single printed circuit board that provides 2MHz stepper outputs and 6MHz encoder inputs through a 96 way rear DIN 41612 connector.
Optional feature enable codes are used to enable from two to eight stepper axes and encoder inputs.

For servo motor control, feature enable codes are used in conjunction with optional 4- or 8-axis DAC boards for +/-10V control with ultra-precise 16 bit resolution.
A further single stepper or servo axis daughter board may be included bringing the total axis count to nine.
The standard board also includes 16 x 24V opto-isolated inputs and eight 24V opto-isolated outputs, two 0-10V analogue inputs at 12-bit resolution and a 24V 100mA Watchdog relay output.
The Euro209 includes an Ethernet port for PC programming and fast data communication.
Ethernet can also provide program control and data transfer for multiple card factory networks over LAN.
Other built-in factory communications protocols available for interfacing and I/O expansion include: Modbus-TCP; Telnet; DeviceNet slave and CANopen master along with RS232 and RS485 ports.
To complete the flexibility available for the machine builder, additional I/O or communication interfacing is made possible with optional daughter boards such as USB and Profibus.
On-board program and data memory is 1 Mbyte with additional storage up to 2 Gbyte via standard Micro SD card.
As part of the Motion Coordinator range, the new Euro209 joins a family of panel mount and board level multi-axis motion controllers offering one to 64 axes of motion and machine control that share the scalable Motion Perfect application development environment with its straightforward yet powerful multitasking TrioBASIC programming language.
Up to two fast tasks and five standard tasks may be run simultaneously, in PC controlled or standalone mode, for increased programming flexibility that ensures optimal performance and rapid production throughput.
For host applications and visual programming environments, the TrioPC ActiveX components are available and Trio can also provide addition support with G-code and HPGL programming.
With a total of nine physical axes and 16 axes in software, users may configure virtual axes for flexibility in machine synchronisation, data acquisition and electronic gearbox applications.
The Euro209 also supports digital drive systems such as SERCOS II, Control Techniques SLM and CANopen which together with the built-in axis and interfacing flexibility allows the user complete freedom to choose the drive, motor and feedback technology that perfectly matches application cost and performance requirements.
For OEM's manufacturing greater than 200 machines/year, Trio can develop fully customised/embedded solutions.
